![]() History of St. Mary's From our Pastor.. Thanks to the solid stewardship of many parishioners, who gave generously of their time, talent and treasure we were able to move into our new Church on Palm Sunday of 1999. So this year has been a year of firsts for our parish. This is also our first photo directory. It has been an interesting journey to this point beginning with Fr. Al Shimalonis being assigned by Bishop Hanifen to bring this community together as a parish. Under Fr. Al's leadership, this community took its name of Saint Mary of the Rockies and was officially named a full-fledged parish of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. His dream was to build a Church, a parish home, and to see it flourish. So many of you worked so hard to make that dream a reality. As only the second Pastor of the parish, I've been fortunate to help to accomplish the goal of building the church building. We now turn our attention to growing and maturing as a parish family according to our mission statement. No longer in a building mode, we can now direct our efforts to fulfilling the needs of the people of our parish and our community. We do none of this alone. In all things, we trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the intercession of Saint Mary, the love of Jesus and the grace of God. In the Eucharist we unite with Christ, centering ourselves as a parish family. With the other Sacraments we grow in grace and continually become renewed in Spirit. May God bless you in every wonderful way! Abbot Warren Fr. Al Close Window |
